Our Dogs

Our breeding dogs are selected based on health, temperament, and overall suitability within our program. All dogs are DNA tested through Orivet, with results used to guide responsible breeding decisions.

Meet Our Dogs: Teddy | Rosie | Evie | Luna

Teddy

Genetic Health Testing

Teddy has undergone comprehensive DNA testing through Orivet, including a full Border Collie breed profile.

Results indicate no detected variants for the hereditary conditions tested. Teddy is considered genetically clear for all conditions included in the Orivet Border Collie panel.

Genetic testing is used to guide responsible breeding decisions with a focus on long-term health, soundness, and welfare.

📄 Full Orivet DNA report available on request.

Genetic Transparency

All Scenic Collies breeding dogs undergo DNA testing through Orivet, with results used to guide informed and responsible breeding decisions. Carrier status does not impact a dog’s health and is safely managed through appropriate mate selection.

Further information is available on our Colour & Genetics page.

Colour & Coat Genetics

Teddy carries the merle gene and is black-based. He does not carry dilution and does not carry extreme white patterning.

His genetic profile supports the production of both merle and non-merle offspring when paired appropriately.

Merle-to-merle matings are never undertaken.

Coat colour, markings, and eye colour may continue to develop as puppies mature.

Breeding Considerations

Teddy is included in the Scenic Collies breeding program following genetic health testing, temperament assessment, and evaluation of overall suitability.

All pairings are selected with health, genetic compatibility, and temperament as the primary considerations.

Rosie

Genetic Health Testing

Rosie has undergone comprehensive DNA testing through Orivet, including the full Border Collie breed-specific panel.

Rosie is genetically clear for all tested hereditary conditions, with the exception of Adult-Onset Deafness (Border Collie linkage), for which she is a carrier only. This is a research-associated marker and not a diagnostic disease result.

Carrier status does not affect Rosie’s health or quality of life. She is paired only with genetically clear mates, ensuring no affected puppies can be produced.

Colour & Coat Genetics

Rosie is black-based and non-merle. She carries extension and may produce red-based offspring when paired appropriately.

Rosie does not express dilution; however, she carries dilution and may produce dilute-coloured offspring only when paired with another compatible carrier.

She does not carry extreme white patterning.

Breeding Considerations

Rosie is included in the Scenic Collies breeding program following comprehensive genetic testing, temperament assessment, and evaluation of overall suitability.

Evie

Results indicate no detected variants for the hereditary conditions tested. Evie is considered genetically clear for all conditions included in the Orivet Border Collie panel.

Colour & Coat Genetics

Evie is red-based (non-extension) and non-merle. She does not carry dilution and does not carry extreme white patterning.

Breeding Considerations

Evie is included in the Scenic Collies breeding program following genetic health testing, temperament assessment, and evaluation of overall suitability.

Luna

Genetic Health Testing

Luna’s sire has undergone comprehensive DNA testing through Orivet. Her dam is a pedigree Lilac & White Border Collie.

Luna’s own Orivet DNA report is currently pending finalisation and will be published once received.

Genetic Transparency

Genetic testing and parentage information are used to guide responsible breeding decisions.

Further information is available on our Colour & Genetics page.

Colour & Coat Genetics

Luna is blue-based and non-merle. Her colour genetics are consistent with her parentage and will be fully confirmed once DNA testing is finalised.

Breeding Considerations

Luna is being assessed for inclusion in the Scenic Collies breeding program following completion of genetic testing, temperament evaluation, and overall health assessment.
